CARING For OUR BODIES, MINDS, HEARTS, and SPIRITS
When I arrive in the quiet and bring my attention inwards there is a sense of home—— A refuge of peace and love…How do I arrive, how do I return, how does it affect my life?
I practice mindfulness everyday and in the moments as I am able.. What is this practice?
It is being present in the moment with kindness and curiosity..Sustained present moment awareness applied internally or externally to whatever is happening…thinking, feeling, etc…..
I arrive and return again and again by focusing my attention in the moment on one thing at a time such as my breath (my anchor), a sound (the resonance of a bell, the birds), a sight (a color, a tree..)…body sensations, etc… or to open wide to include everything—working with gratitude, generosity, kindness, etc. Heartfulness is what makes mindfulness complete.
So simple and so profound, so deep and impacts all aspects of our life. What we know to be true is that structure follows energy and energy follows thoughts.. Your thoughts are calibrated energetically and impact your body and your environment directly. When my mind is calm, my body is healthy. Our thoughts, and where our attention goes impacts all aspects of who we are: Our brains, our backs, our hearts, our stomachs, etc….our sense of purpose, happiness..
Cultivate attention and lovingkindness…and when we train our minds, and open our hearts through enjoying and savoring the moments we develop resilience. As we work with our attention, we learn to regulate our attention which is “the frontline of who we are becoming”.
Some thoughts:
- So how do you arrive and how do you return.
- What brings you back when the mind has wandered.
- Please share with us and how it has impacted your life.
If mindfulness is new to you, please be in touch with any questions.
